| Born in Jerusalem, Gad Almaliah devoted his life to creative expression through the graphic arts. In 1965, he completed his studies at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem. Gad served as president of the Graphic Designer's Association of Israel for 15 years. He has designed for the Israeli, United States, and Mexican Postal Services. In addition, the Israeli Government commissioned him to design coins and medals as well as the emblem for the six-day war. He produced books on design. The central text of his Ketubot is enveloped by special designs, many in a choice of copper alloy, silver alloy, or lithographic watercolors. Each Ketubah is unique, and was signed by the artist. With a look which reminds us of both the ancient and modern land of Israel, his Ketubot are the perfect combination of a legal text transformed into a striking and special commemoration of the Mitzvah of marriage. Gad Almaliah passed away in 2007, but his family continues to produce and sell his giftware designs and the remaining signed prints. |
