|The Cukier family comes from Poland. Juan’s grandmother – Lunia – from Warsaw and his grandfather – Ladislaw – from Kalize, the oldest city in Poland. Juan’s grandfather moved to San Salvador, El Salvador in 1922 when he was just 21 years old. He would go back to Poland to visit his family on vacation every three or four years and in 1936, he married Lunia. They moved together to El Salvador and raised their family. Juan’s remaining family in Poland (great grandmother, uncles, cousins …) with the exception of one great uncle and one aunt were killed by the Nazis. Juan now lives in Florida, creating mixed media sculptures, often referred to as “Jewelry for your Walls.” With boldness of design and unique style, Juan brings to his one-of-a-kind sculptures. They are brought to life with bursts of color and mixed media, including paper, clay, gemstones, fiber, gold and silver leaf, wood and paint. His work shows strong commitment to perfection in technical mastery and execution of original ideas.
