| Michal is an Israeli born artist who resides in New York. She is well known for her beautiful designs in jewelry and covered boxes with a Judaic theme and mezuzahs. Michal creates hand worked jewelry pieces which combine the look of the antique with contemporary fashion sensibility. Her unusual style and technique and meticulous attention to detail distinguish these ornately jeweled designs.
Michal's designs are inspired by Byzantine jewelry with its generous use of gemstones and pearls, and from jewelry made during the reign of Queen Victoria. Influences from Middle Eastern art, particularly mosaic styles are also apparent in her lavish decoration of surfaces and use of brilliant colors. Michal is a graduate of the University of Maryland in Graphic Art and holds a Masters Degree from New York University in studio art. The jewelry is all hand-crafted in 24K gold or sterling silver electroplated over brass or white metal. Semi-precious stones and fresh-water pearls and Swarovski Crystals are all genuine. |
