| Raphael Abecassis has gained worldwide recognition as an artist that combines traditional Jewish and Sephardic motifs with modern composition and style, contributing to the creation of a modern Jewish art. His work uses innovative techniques of refreshing colors and forms to portray clear compositions and life-celebrating subjects. With excellent technical performance, Abecassis integrates old and new; natural and mystic; and different mediums such as ceramics stain glass windows and embroidery. Abecassis' paintings restore a whole artistic tradition and pays tribute to his artistic ancestry by combining scripts and verses, illustrated prayers and the Independence Charter of the State of Israel into his compositions. The artist's works are a combination of the symbols of long-standing Jewish tradition with an innovative collection of colors and forms. His works are a synthesis of the natural and the supernatural, the traditional and the modern, the decorative and the mystic. In subtly varied compositions, precise calligraphy and often freshly daring natural colors, Abecassis creates works of the finest aesthetic harmonies and formal perfection.
