Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapira was a great teacher in the rich tradition of Polish Hasidism. As the Rebbe of the Warsaw Ghetto, he continued to spread Jewish teachings despite terrible odds. In the winter of 1942-1943, when the Warsaw Ghetto was doomed, Reb Kalonymus carefully buried whole manuscripts that were found after the war. Among them were many sections of Conscious Community, called Bnai Machshavah in Hebrew.

Within this volume, Reb Kalonymus teaches the art of self-observation with an emphasis on organizing and running a spiritual community. The reader is exhorted to be mindful of God at all times, with specific advice given for enhancing the experience of prayer.
