Description: Distressed Copper with brushed silver rings. The mezuzah is given a distressed finish by first burying in a mixture of sawdust and acid, this eats away at the copper leaving a textured surface. The mezuzah is then heated to blacken it and then polished to reveal the copper underneath. The silver bands are inspired by the rings circling the planet Saturn.
Laura has used the pure form of a rocket shape as a symbol of modernity. Each piece is created by hand using traditional silver smithing techniques - sawing, hammering, filing and soldering. While the rocket is a modern geometric shape the unique finishing techniques provide each mezuzah with the warmth and personality of a hand crafted piece. She signs each mezuzah.
