Kings 2 By Rabbi Moshe Weissman Illustrated by: S. Forst and D. Goldschmidt 8.5"x11" (426 Pages)Ages 8-11 Publisher: Bnay Yakov, 2006 Part of the "The Little Midrash Says" series.
A digest of Melachim / Kings 1 based upon Rashi, Rishonim and Midrashim. Teachings and parables drawn from our Sages are woven into the text, aiding in incorporating the lessons into ones daily life. Large, modern type and numerous illustrations help the child visualize the scenes described in the text.
The Book of Melachim 2 opens with a description of the miracles performed by the prophet Elisha. It goes on to portray the often turbulent and tragic events in the lives of the kings, ending with the dissolution of both kingdoms. We gain appreciation of the fact that history is not shaped by any king's clever political maneuvering but is determined by Hashem alone in accordance with the Jewish people's moral level. The often complex topics of the book of Melachim 2 have been substantially simplified. Nevertheless, this volume is recommended for mature readers.
