The "notes" gathered in this volume were broadcast on Israel Television as unscripted, weekly 12-15 minute talks each Friday from Shabbat Bereishit 1985 to Simhat Torah 1986. Each talk deals with a specific detail of the weekly sidrah, sometimes with a single verse or even with a single word. Often drawing attention to the meaning of the topic or association between it and other topics, some of these then current events.

These transcriptions have some stylistic changes but generally preserve the nature as notes delivered in free conversation.
