Petals flowing downstream in a Japanese garden. A silk banner floating on a breeze. The full moon drifting across a cloudbank. The breathless moment under the wedding canopy before you kiss for the first time as newlyweds. "Flowing Water" perfectly captures these fleeting moments of joy and longing, which vanish in an instant and last for all eternity. The first in Nishima's "Poetics" series, Flowing Water is inspired by the simplicity and beauty of Asian art fused with Nishima's playful sense of form and color. Blending swirling watercolor abstraction with handmade paper, as carefully composed and balanced as a verse of Haiku poetry, Flowing Water is a timeless modern classic.
Limited edition print.
The original of this mixed media "Poetics" collage was constructed from handmade paper that is torn, cut, applied and layered onto a large, colorful watercolor painting. The process is intensely meditative for the artist. She begins with only an idea in mind. No sketches of the artwork are done prior to beginning. Sudden inspirations, "accidents" and the natural beauty of the paper and the watercolor are allowed to "create" the artwork, using the artist as the vessel of expression. Spontaneous, creative, mystical: the words used to describe the process of creating this "Poetics" ketubah also describe the people who love it. Limited Edition of 350, Signed and numbered by the Artist Nishima Kaplan.
Museum-quality, limited edition gyclee print ; printed one-at-a-time on the artist's own equipment. Highest quality paper and archival inks that are guaranteed by the artist to last a lifetime.
