Galilean Landscape Ketubah

By Artist Jeffrey Allon
18.5"x24.5"

This beautifully illuminated Ketubah symbolizes the Jewish people s ever recurring joy in and affirmation of life. In the central painting, the artist depicts the striking beauty of springtime in the northern Galilee. In the foreground, a flowering tree in full blossom spreads its roots into the Ketubah text below, represented in earth colors. This gentle pasture land is surrounded by the rugged heights of HaGalil. In the far distance, snow capped Mt. Hermon towers into the brilliant sky.

Below the central painting is a decorative panel of the fruit and grain of Eretz Israel. The four corner motifs are based upon ancient Jewish designs of the menorah, the Psalmist s harp, the date tree, and a sheaf of wheat. Framing the design in gold letters, a verse from the Song of Songs 2:10-12, reflects the painting s theme of new beginnings: "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; The flowers appear on the earth, The time of the singing bird is come, and the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land."

This lithographic edition is printed on 100% cotton rag acid-free archival paper, 105 lb wieght.
