This limited edition Ketubah by Jerusalem artist Archie Granot was created from an original multi-layered papercut and is printed on off white/ivory French Arches fine art paper. Cobalt blue with burgundy. It measures approximately 26" x 19.75". The actual printed area measures approximately 17" in diameter.
The round shape was chosen because the circle is a form that suggests perfection while the intersecting lines in the design represent the intertwined lives of a couple. The deep yet bright blue and burgundy colors both represent "Malchut- Kingship".
The texts around the ketubah read: "...and when I went out towards you, I found you coming towards me ...ever since you were the home of love for me, my love has lived where you have lived." (R. Yehuda Halevi - Love Poems) "Where perfection exists happiness is blessed; and there is no greater perfection than the marriage of bride and groom."(Maharal of Prague)
English texts on all Ketubahs are interpretations and not literal translations.
