The previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn published during the years of World War II a monthly journal Hakeriah Vehakedusha - Reading and Holiness, with the motto: "Immediate Repentance - Immediate Redemption!". This journal featured Chassidic discourses - Ma'amarim of the Rebbe written in Yiddish during 1941-1945. Later published in one volume Sefer Hama'amarim - Yiddish.
This volume contains discourses from Sefer Hama'amarim - Yiddish in English. Many of the discourses have as their central theme the concepts of self-sacrifice for G-d and Judaism, repentance, and strengthening the observance of Torah and mitzvos. They often speak of the lessons to be learned from the earth-shattering events of WWII and their connection to the coming of Moshiach.
