| Honey dishes: During the year, the custom is to dip challah in salt. From Rosh Hashonah and (for many) through Sukkot, the universal Jewish custom is to dip challah in pure sweet honey as a siman (sign) for a good year ahead. “May it be Your will that this year be good and sweet!” To beautify this family ceremony (and to keep little hands from spreading honey all over the tablecloth), many people use a special honey dish, used year after year, G-d willing. Honey dishes come in all shapes and sizes. Any one will add a festive touch to your YomTov meals.
