Reflecting the richness of textile arts in Jewish tradition, symbols of Jewish life are woven into a tapestry of historical significance. Marriage (represented by a Yemenite-style wedding ring), home (mezuzah), community (synagogue) and Torah, as well as a Tree of Life, are the essential decorative elements. The design is based upon an 18th century Torah Ark curtain from Florence, Italy. English text in border reads: "I will betroth you unto me forever and I will betroth you unto me righteously and justly with lovingkindness and compassion and I will betroth you unto me in faithfulness - Hosea." The Hebrew heading translates as: "I will betroth you unto me forever."
