The shape of the English text of this ketubah invites the viewer up a grassy hill into the shelter of twin trees, which flank the Hebrew text. The blooming branches sweep upwards against a soft blue sky, arching together to form a natural huppah. Two white doves fly toward each other amid the leaves, and spring flowers bloom on the hill. Just beneath the birds are inscribed the Hebrew words from the Song of Songs, "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine" The entire scene is rendered in gentle watercolors, and the unusual calligraphy complements the artwork: the Hebrew letters sit softly against the sky, while the lively English calligraphy is evocative of blades of grass.
Print Method: Giclee; Original Medium: Watercolor. The text on Melissa's ketubot are seamlessly printed in fonts that were designed from her own Hebrew and English calligraphy, giving each ketubah a beautiful hand-made feeling.
English texts on all Ketubahs are interpretations and not literal translations.
